Era and Lifecycle

The Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S were released in November 2020 and are part of the ninth generation of gaming consoles. Microsoft has chosen a strategy of two parallel models - the more powerful Xbox Series X focused on maximum graphics performance and the more affordable Xbox Series S designed primarily for digital game distribution. Both consoles share the same architecture and support the same game library.

Hardware revisions and versions

Xbox Series X (2020) - a more powerful console model with a characteristic vertical design reminiscent of a compact computer. The console is equipped with a Blu-ray drive and focuses on gaming in 4K resolution with a high frame rate.

Xbox Series S (2020) - a smaller and more affordable variant without an optical drive. The console is designed exclusively for digital game distribution and focuses on gaming in lower resolution while maintaining modern technological features.

Xbox Series X (2024 revision) - an updated version of the console with a higher storage capacity and a slightly modified design.

Technical highlights and uniqueness

Xbox Wireless Controller - a modernized controller with an ergonomic design, a textured surface and a share button for quickly taking pictures and videos from games.

Ultra HD Blu-ray - physical games are distributed on Blu-ray discs (for the Series X model), while digital distribution is carried out through the Microsoft Store.

Xbox Game Pass - a subscription service providing access to an extensive library of games, including new titles from Microsoft studios on the day of release.

Quick Resume - technology that allows you to instantly switch between several games you have played without having to reload them.
