Era and Lifecycle

The Xbox One was released in November 2013 and is part of the eighth generation of game consoles. The console was the successor to the Xbox 360 platform and competed primarily with the PlayStation 4. Compared to the previous generation, Microsoft placed greater emphasis on multimedia features, online services, and integration with the Windows ecosystem.

Hardware revisions and versions

Xbox One (2013) - the original console model with a square design and an external power supply. The console was designed with an emphasis on multimedia features and was often sold in a package with a Kinect sensor.

Xbox One S (2016) - a smaller and more energy-efficient version of the original model. The console brought support for 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray disc playback and HDR, while the design was significantly more compact.

Xbox One X (2017) - a more powerful variant focused on gaming in 4K resolution. It offered a significantly more powerful GPU and higher performance than the original model, allowing for a more stable frame rate and better graphics quality.

Technical highlights and uniqueness

Xbox Wireless Controller - an ergonomically redesigned controller with very precise analog sticks and triggers. Over time, it was expanded to include Bluetooth support for easier connection to computers and mobile devices.

Blu-ray media - physical games were distributed on Blu-ray discs, while digital distribution through the Microsoft Store gradually gained increasing importance.

Xbox Live - an online service that allows multiplayer, digital game purchases, and player profile management. The platform has long been considered one of the most stable online services for consoles.

Xbox Game Pass - a subscription service providing access to an extensive library of games for a monthly fee. This service has become one of the key elements of the Xbox ecosystem.

Exclusive or heavily promoted titles such as Halo 5: Guardians, Forza Horizon 4, Gears 5, or Sunset Overdrive also played a large role in the platform's library.
