Portal overview

About the game

Portal is an original first-person puzzle game that uses space and physics to solve puzzles. At first glance, it may seem that everything is based on a pair of portals, but the game offers much more — ingenious mechanics, a changing environment and increasingly complex challenges that will test your creativity and patience.

Story

You find yourself in the bowels of the mysterious Aperture Science testing complex, where you are accompanied by the artificial intelligence GLaDOS. During a series of seemingly innocent tests, you gradually reveal the darker background of the entire experiment and the true fate of the laboratory in which you woke up.

Gameplay

The gameplay is based on a simple principle - using a portal gun, you connect two places in space and solve logical tasks. By combining movement, the laws of physics and wit, you overcome test rooms that become increasingly challenging and imaginative as the game progresses.

Technical state

Portal was released in 2007 and showed the full potential of the Source engine at that time. Thanks to excellent optimization, it runs smoothly even on weaker computers and still impresses with its clean visuals, precise physics and unmistakable atmosphere. Valve Studio once again confirmed that even a small project can offer an exceptional experience.
