Story

As an investigative journalist, Miles Upshur, the player sets out to the abandoned Mount Massive psychiatric institution, where he is to uncover the truth about suspicious experiments. However, the findings soon grow into his own fight for survival. The story gradually reveals the dark background of the research, strange patients and the terrifying history of the facility, with an emphasis on documents, environmental narration and unexpected twists.

Gameplay

The game emphasizes hiding, escaping and careful exploration of the environment. Miles is unarmed, equipped only with a night vision camera, which is crucial for navigating in dark spaces. Combat is virtually impossible, so it is necessary to rely on stealth, careful listening and good timing. Limited battery life creates an additional layer of tension and forces the player to manage resources carefully.

Technical state

Outlast uses dark environments, sophisticated lighting and a distinctive sound design to create a strong sense of fear. Realistic animations, detailed interiors of the institution and sounds that echo from unlit corridors reinforce the claustrophobic atmosphere. Despite the technical simplicity of some elements, the game manages to offer an intense and unforgettable horror experience thanks to its effective use of audiovisual means.
