BioShock Infinite overview
About the game
BioShock Infinite is an action FPS with RPG elements, set in an alternate version of 1912. It takes players to the fascinating city of Columbia - a flying utopian world above the clouds, whose idealistic facade is gradually crumbling under the weight of fanaticism, nationalism, and class conflict. The game was created by Irrational Games studio under the leadership of Ken Levine.
Story
You will take on the role of Booker DeWitt, a former soldier and detective in a difficult life situation. Booker is given a seemingly simple mission: to find and free a mysterious girl named Elizabeth. However, he soon discovers that Elizabeth is not ordinary - her ability to manipulate reality and tear cracks in time will affect not only the course of the mission, but also the very nature of the world of Columbia. The main story mixes personal dramas with philosophical themes of choice, guilt, and identity.
Gameplay
BioShock Infinite combines dynamic shooting with the use of so-called Vigors, special abilities that allow you to control elements such as fire, lightning, or telekinesis. Fights are fluid and often take place in vertical space thanks to the ability to move along aerial tracks called Sky-Lines. Elizabeth actively helps during the fight - throwing ammunition, opening cracks, or making cover accessible.
Technical state
The game uses stylized graphics with a strong color palette and a unique atmosphere reminiscent of American propaganda aesthetics of the early 20th century. The sound design and soundtrack underline the tension and surreal tone of the story. Even after years, BioShock Infinite impresses with its visual imagination and strong art direction.
